GREEN: gardening

Here are some updates on my alpine strawberry plant and my garden expansion! I am on my way! The pictures uploaded sideways (: { No idea why but here is my plant!

What I love about this plant specifically is the berries were so fragrant and flavorful! The more you pick the more that grow.

Also these must have been sturdy seeds because I did not care for the plant well during the winter and was able to revive it and its blossoming flowers/ fruit again this year!

I'm glad I went out and just started somewhere with gardening because its definitely all around a good deal! My kids and I cared for it, harvested the fruit, ate the fruit and watched plant life happen. It was just great!

Now this month I have sown Bells of Ireland, Bunching Onion and Cilantro/ Coriander.

GREEN: Gardening

In Virginia everyone in my family had vegetable and fruit gardens. I have missed that so much since moving to LA! Aunts and Uncles would send us kids out in the yard to pick collard greens, peas and berries to bring in for rinsing and eating! So I have been planning to start a garden and decided to start small. So far so good  and I am inspired and ready to go bigger!

Next I plan to get a window planter box.
I love the idea of feeding my kids from our family garden, teaching them how to garden and the independence from grocery stores. Not that I am by any means against them, but i like the idea of not being completely dependent. So I hope to share on this strawberry plants transplant to my outdoors patio, the window boxes and raised beds soon to come!
